Big Names On The Move

Over the last few years there has been a trend of top players moving from one school to the next. The NCHSAA has put in some rules to stop this but they did not take effect until 8/1. That means one more round of musical schools and some big local names have made the jump.
Zuri White has made the jump to Hillside HS from Northern HS. She is a great fit for what they do there and will be a great addition. Hillside got another top player on the guys side when Justice Kitcart, a top sophomore guard in the 2016 class nationally made the move over as well.

Teaching Moment

Over the weekend PJ Hairston of UNC was back in the news. Seems he could not learn his lesson and was busted rolling 93 in a 65 after having gone through all he had been through of late. If you ask me, this is a special kind of dumb as now he is off the UNC team. I hope every young ball player saw this and used it as a reminder that we are all bound to the rules.

Too many players get the idea in their heads that somehow they are exempt from the rules and do dumb. They think they can get by because they have a jump shot, or are on the football team, etc.

New Scouting Reports are Up

As Promised, I have new scouting reports up on the site under our Scouting Reports section off the main menu. With the 10 added today we now have 44 players listed (22 boys/22 girls). We have more to add and will be doing these up as we can so be on the lookout for new batches out soon.
If you would like us to scout you, send us game film or let us know when you are playing and we will do what we can to get out and see you play. Until next time, see you in the stands!

No News

Hope all is well with everyone today. I have no new info to share as of yet but that is because I have been working on getting more scouting reports done up on area players for the site. I hope to have these reports up and on line by the end of the weekend so be on the lookout.
Also, should be a slow weekend for me this week as I am on my weekend duty at the 9-5 job so that means no games/events for me. Never fear though as next week we will still have stuff out for you that you will want to catch up on.

Jammin on the Hill Part 3

As promised we are are back with more team reviews from last weeks Jammin on the Hill jamboree. Today we are looking at 2 more schools from this event as we check in on Voyager Academy and Northern Vance HS.
Voyager Academy - I have seen them a few times this summer. This time around they brought essentially 2 teams, 5 from varsity and 5 from JV. The varsity crew played well together led by junior guards Diante Parker and Gary Ford. The 2nd unit though looked very raw and needs to really step it up if they are to be counted on in the near future.

Jammin on the Hill Part 2

We are back with more team reviews and notes from last weekends Jammin on the Hill event over at East Chapel Hill HS. We have 2 more team reviews for you today as we are looking at Lee County and Hillside HS. Notes are as follows:
Lee County HS - Lee County has a solid looking team led by 6'5 senior wing Dewaun McEachin and fellow big Nick Grubb. Nick is the more traditional banger down low while Dewaun has the flash and the high flying game from the wing that folks get excited about. Dewaun has the height, the hops and the skill to be a prospect at the SF spot at next level and will be a lot of fun to watch this season.

JD Lewis Summer League

I know I stated that I would have the team reviews up from last weekends jamboree today. When I left the office yesterday though, I left my notes there as well so today it is all about plan B.

This time of year is kind of a dead period for hoops fans. AAU is over for the most part, jamborees are all but done too, and football is right around the corner. So, what do you do if you are a baller looking to go up against some top competition still? Easy, you go to the JD Lewis Center in Garner and get in on their summer leagues.

Jammin on the Hill Reviews

This past weekend I was out at East Chapel Hill HS for their annual Jammin on the Hill event. 10 teams were in for this one gunning for the title but in the end it was the Northern Knights that took the crown. Over the next few days we will be bringing you the news and notes from this event so be on the lookout all week long. Also, keep in mind that teams are not at full strength in these kinds of summer events so some of the names you'd expect to see may not be here yet. Notes are as follows:

New Feature on AllStar Preps!!!

Here at AllStar Preps we are always looking for the best way possible to showcase the talent available in our area. To that end we have decided to make available our scouting reports to all by adding a new feature to the site.

Going forward you will find "Scouting Reports" listed off the main menu tab. Right now we started you off with 34 player reports (17 boys, 17 girls) but that is just the tip of the iceberg. I hope to have much more available to you soon so if you do not see your player up on the site yet, no worries, I just have not got them up yet is all.

Jammin on the Hill

As mentioned yesterday, there i a great basketball jamboree going on today over at East Chapel Hill HS. They are hosting their annual Jammin on the Hill event with games wrapping up today. They have a solid bunch of teams in the field this year so if you are free you may want to get in on the action.Games start at 10am with a championship game set to tip at 5:30. I will have games notes and recaps out next week so if you can't make it out, make sure you get the scoop next week. Until next time, see you in the stands!
